Slow And Steady Vibes For 2023
Life is neither a marathon nor a sprint, but rather a leisurely stroll
Hi everyone, and welcome to the first post of 2023! Should I admit that it’s my first post, given that we’re more than halfway through February?
What’s everyone been up to? Deciding which of your resolutions are actually realistic? Trying to figure out what the weather’s doing since it’s all over the place? Refreshing your TikTok feed?
As always, this is my Four Seven Eight newsletter where I tell you four things I’m taking in, seven things I’m holding my breath for and eight things I’m putting out in to the world (more info on why I use this format in my first post here!)
LET’S DO THIS!
(I do not have a Peloton and therefore have no clue what the general consensus is on this instructor.)
Here are four things I’m taking in:
All the good things I can about winter. I’m trying to remind myself that there are beautiful parts of this season, even after the holidays are over.
Moments to journal. It’s always nice to write down your feelings. And it can help you process things more than pacing around your apartment talking to yourself does (ask me how I know).
The later sunsets!
Brown noise. It’s so relaxing to journal or read to! I mentioned it to my dad like, “Have you heard of brown noise?” and he was like, “Obviously, where have you been?” I don’t know. Where HAVE I been? It might be even better than LoFi Beats To Relax and Study To.
Here are seven things I’m holding my breath (with excitement) for:
For the weather to get nicer so I can do outdoor dining and wear my cute little outfits.
To collaborate on video content with some people. If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to reach out! (Instagram here and Twitter here)
My 30th birthday this year. It’s not until June but I’m just excited about turning 30. What a feminist act that I see this as a good thing. I’m truly breaking barriers.
For the days to keep getting longer. I know I also mentioned this in the “taking in” section, but let me be excited about it!
To work on my book some more. I’ve been sort of in the planning stage of the rewrite but lately I’ve been going ahead and writing out of excitement.
To see what the next step in my career will be.
I don’t know honestly! Tell me other cool things I should be excited about! Or don’t. That’s fine too.
Here are eight things I’m putting out there:
A couple of teeth. Literally, I got my last two wisdom teeth removed in January. Insert dad joke about not being wise anymore.
My improv! I had my improv 1 show last month.
Positive reminders that New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to be for anyone but you, and you don’t have to have them if they don’t serve you! I have some, but I also get why other people wouldn’t. On a different but similar note, I’ve been reminding myself that it’s okay that January wasn’t an especially eventful month for me. The winter has never been my most exciting time, especially what with the pandemic. I don’t have to hit the ground running at the beginning of the year, and neither do you!
Feelers for what else to post on here. Clearly the life updates are challenging to post when I don’t have much going on.
On that note: boundaries! I’m just not one to share every personal thing online.
Feelers for writing buddies. Mostly for my novel but I’m thinking of working on a pilot too.
Job applications.
The energy that this year is going to be great!
If you read all the way to the end, thank you! You’re as cool as the other side of the pillow! And if you didn’t, then how do you know what this says? Are you psychic? Can you tell me if I’ve already met the person I’m going to marry?
Warmly, Kindly, Truly, Madly, Deeply, etc,
Zola
